problem...

I have an '89 S10 Blazer 4.3L TBI with 86K miles on it.

The problem is that it's running very rough at idle but smooth at higher RPMs. Sometimes it's will stop at idle.
The check engine light comes on and the ALDL reports code 33. I've checked out the MAP sensor like the ALDL code says and it's checking out OK. I checked the plugs and they look a bit blackish. I'm guessing it's running rough because it's running to rich. That would explain the plugs and soot from the exhaust. Is it the oxygen sensor being bad or is it something else?

I've replaced rotor and cap, plugs (Bosch Platinum), wires and coil. Doesn't change anything.

Re: problem...

Sounds like an O2 sensor, but it should have set a RICH code for the O2(can't remember the #). Your truck probably has the original one anyway. Get a Bosch that will plug right in. Good luck.
