transfer case maintenance

I just bought an 89 blazer and started changing out all my fluids and filters so I knew what was what. When I went to change the transfer case oil I pulled both plugs. One is the same size as the fill, the other is a smaller vertical plug with a pin and a spring. About a gallon of oil came out of both plugs total but only a little better than 2 quarts went back in. I can't see any other fill plugs for possibly the front of the unit as the small drain plug is higher and located farther forward.(4.3L/4x4)Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: transfer case maintenance

Capicity on that is 1.2 quarts. Is it possible you drained your tranny at the same time? Do you have a manual?

Re: transfer case maintenance

My tranny is still at the proper level.Transfer case is a 231 not a 207 and my manual shows 2.2 pints so I'm really confused.
