i got some questions

i have a 91 s-10 ext. 4x4 30-11.50 thornbirds and i am getting my transmitions rebulit at the moment and the guy calls me today saying that there is so much mud and bulid up on the exaust pipes he is going to break the bolts of to my headers, so he says i should go ahead and get new headers, that fine now that i have always want to put headers on the truck but now i don't know which ones to get i think jba is goin to be a little to expensive, but i want a perfromance type header any suggestions. and also i was wondering how much lift i would need to run a 35- 14.50 tire on my truck, and who makes the best and a round about price. thanks for any info give

Re: i got some questions

Okay, first things first. What kind of half-a**ed mechanic did you take your truck to? There's these things called replacement studs for exhaust manifolds, they've even got a little mini-press to get the old ones out. Second, the Edelbrock TES are good if you get them coated with something, plus your stock pipes will work. Hooker makes Super Comps for the 4.3 4x4 S-10s, but their full-length and also will rust out. The JBAs are THE BEST for the money(never need replacing) With your type of 'wheelin the cheapie headers won't last. As for your second question, a TrailMaster 5" lift and a 3" body you MAY be able to fit a 35 with Bushwacker cut-out fender flares. The 14.50's are TOO wide for even a lifted S-10. The ball-joints and wheel bearings won't take it. Not to mention with 35's you'll need 4.56 gears(good luck finding them for the IFS!)to have any kind of power. Oh, BTW Thornbirds suck on the steet! Shoot for a 33x12.50x15 on 15x10 wheel with 5.5" backspacing with the 5"/3" lift and you'll have a nice ride with 4.11 gears and the JBAs. Good luck with it.
