torsion bars?

I'm pretty new to the chevy thing, having worked on Jeeps most of my life, but I keep hearing about torsion bars and involving them in lift? What is this all about? I have a 93 s10 2WD with the 2.8. Can I get a higher stance with this? Just looking to get a little more clearance

Re: torsion bars?

Unless the old body styles have a different front end setup than the new ones, you dont have torsion bars, they are only on the 4wd models.

Re: torsion bars?

ALL 2WD S-10s have coil spring, short/long arm front suspension. This can be a good thing, though as a few aftermarket suspension companies offer lift kits from mild to EXTREME! Though its not an IDEAL design for Off-road, an SLA suspension can be made better fairly easily. There's the Bullseye spindles that move the hub down, longer coil springs, spacers, longer tubular control arms, etc. It all depends on what you want to do. Good luck with it.
