pcv valve

Hey gang,
My old rustbucket started running poorly a few days ago.Timing, plugs, cap etc all ok so i took the air cleaner off to check for looose vacuum lines and found it sopping wet inside with oil. Someone was telling me it could be the PCV valve, anyone ever experience this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Dave

Re: pcv valve

I haven't experienced that but, you could check to see if your PCV is working while you are at it. Just remove the PCV and shake it (should sound like something is inside, kind of like shaking a spray paint can ). Next, create a vacuum where the vacuum hose was attached and see if it holds. Hope this helps.
