Installing electric fan

Hi,
I was wondering how you would wire an electric cooling fan so that it would trip on/off at the appropriate temps. I presently have an HP-sucking clutch fan. I couldn't get a straight answer from the supplier. Has anyone out there done this?

Also, has anyone found an electric fan from another vehicle that would fit a rad on a 96 Blazer? I heard that you can use the fan off some older sport cars (camaro, etc). I could tone down the cost by getting one from the scrap yard....the wife finds that I put a little too much money on my rig !

Thanks,

Snafoo

Re: Installing electric fan

Yes, I read at "www.s-series.org" that people have done that. And they say a fan assembly out of an 94 Ford Taurus. Plenty of sucking power to cool the great 4.3 down!!!! They say it brings out a nice amount of HP. I'll be doing this swap soon. First I need to lift it 2".

Re: Installing electric fan

I have a Flexalite 60 on my ZR2 $200 from Summit, but it helps a lot(HP!!!!) and comes with the Tstat to turn it on and off and everything. There is someone that did a homemade swap 2 months ago and hopefully he'll post to you on this junkyard swap he did. Or start reading the posts backwards and you'll run into it. When I joined this site it on took me one night to read all the old posts on ehre and you can learn huge amounts this way too.
