229 v6

Here's the dumb question of the day..( don't worry guys I have a bunch)I have seen some of the 231 stuck into s-10's but has anyone seen a 229 3.8 shoved in them ?,I was able to fine 1 that runs beautiful for $75(car looks like hell)but they always took care of the motor ,usually at the shop i work at..and Im going over to buy the thing .
I figure with a little American now-how (big hammer and cutting torch and a huge can of crisco(get you mind out of the gutter)I should be in business.I was curious if anyone has tried such a feat.
Im thinking i might be able to bolt the TBI onto it with an adapter ..(maybe)

Re: 229 v6

Okay, heres the scoop, the 229 V-6 was a Chevy engine built from 79-84 used in RWD cars(Camaros, Monte Carlos, etc) The 231 V-6 is a Buick built V-6 also used in RWD then in mid 80s also used in FWD cars, and is still used today(3800 SeriesII)in Camaros/Firebirds, and FWD cars. The 229s were never known for their reliability compared to a 231, and never were equipped with factory fuel injection like a 3.8L. Thats why the 3.8 is still in production today. So, you can do it, but it will be a pain, and likely expensive.

Re: 229 v6

Putting the 229 in would be about the same as putting in a 4.3. The 229 is 3/4 of a 305 V8 id stick with swapping in a 4.3 instead- more power/ torque and a bit easier to get parts for -
