Re: 2 in lift

matt91,
I would much rather do the addaleafs over the shackles,
How does that ride?
Have you had ANY bad side effects?
What size tires do you have?
I am guessing you installed the springs and then adjusted the T-bars to match???

Re: 2 in lift

I think it rides the same, if not better. As for side effects, haven't seen any, and this is the second one that I have done this to. I have 30x9.5's on there they rub alittle on the sway bar in the front at full turn, but no big deal. AS for the torsion bars I adjusted them till the front and rear were level. The torsion bars are not maxed out either the front end could probably be lifted another 1".

Re: 2 in lift

I did the torsion bar crankups with shackles. I got about 2" of lift in the back. I was just thinking about add-a-leafs and I don't see how adding a leaf under the axle will raise the rear. Maybe I'm missing something. Also, JCWhitney sells new leaf springs for the back of s-10s. Do you think that new leaf springs would increase the height a little? They gotta be better than 15 year old springs....
Thanks,
Mark

Re: 2 in lift

Actually Its replacing a leaf not adding one, you take out the bottom leaf and replace it with one that has more arch to it. And when its compressed in with the rest it gives the hole pack more arch. New leafs would bring it back to stock, if you have sagging leaf springs.

Re: 2 in lift

I couldn't wait on the add-a-leafs to come in. So I ran down to Advance Auto and got the shackles for $14. Not too bad, the bolts that came with the shackles are a little smaller. So can't torque them down as much. Oh, so thats how add-a-leafs works....I was going down the wrong path...
