v-6 is rockin and a knockin....

hello all-
i have a 84 s-10 blazer, V-6 2.8 w/ the 5 spd. Well i was getting this knocking sound real bad so i asked my uncle, he said it was a connecting rod!!:-( He told me that if we could get the oil pan off then we wouldn't have to pull the engine out..so i was wondering if i could get the oil pan off or does it(engine) have to be pulled to do the job? i hope not..so what do you guys think? thanks a lot a head of time for any info on this sadding matter..

thanx-
the COUTER

Re: v-6 is rockin and a knockin....

Pulling the engine is probably your only option...... I really don't think you will be able to do it with the motor in. Unless its not 4x4? then it might be eaiser.. Not to hard to pull the engine though and it will be much eaiser to work on when you have it on the engine stand.

Goodluck
