305 throttle body

I snagged a brand new complete TB off of a 305 crate motor is this worth messin with, my 4.3 is a fresh rebuild that is .030 over and I have the Edelbrock headers and y-pipe on it, The TPS sensor has a diffrent (round) fitting but I figured I could clip one off of a similar harness and wire it in if there is a way to determine the wire to pin relation, little diffrence in the linkage but is this worth messin with or should I stay away? My truck has a little intermitten stumble off idle at times, I think it could something to do with the doo-doo plug wires I have on it other than that it runs real strong.

Re: 305 throttle body

Anyone have anything to offer? I was told by a friend of mine that this works well, he claims that he did it to a an older monte carlo with a 4.3L, Does anyone know the specs or diffrence between the two throttle bodies?

Re: 305 throttle body

I put a t-body from a 350 on mine, but the injectors were fueling too much, the ECM couldn't back off the pulse width enough to not run rich. I believe that the size of the throttle bores are the same between a 4.3, and a 305, it's just the injectors that are different. If you were going to a larger cam, intake and headers, the motor may be able to use the extra fuel that the 305 t-body can offer. If you have an ohm meter, check the resistance of the injectors on both t-bodies, if they are the same, you won't hurt anything to bolt it on and see how it runs. There are three torx head bolts that hold the injector housing onto the t-body base, you could just change the injectors and not the base, then you wouldn't have to change the TPS wiring or the throttle linkage.(this I have done). Any questions, feel free to ask.
