Lift Kit

I want to put my 89 s10 blazer on a lift, but im not sure which to buy. Superlift has a two forms of a 2" suspension lift. One says W/ Shackles, and the other says W/ Add-A-Leaf. i was wondering which was better, and what the differenece is.

Personally, between the two, I would go with the shackle lift.

A shackle lift will contain longer (and hopefully stronger) shackles with the kit to raise the rear end. They basically lift the truck from the frame to leaf spring.

An add-a-leaf suspension is an extra overload leaf added to your spring pack. Might make the suspension stiff all the way through its articulation. I have heard of cases of them breaking and being too rough on the (human) body.

NOW -- if you had another choice, you could get new springs altogther. I would check with companies like Deaver Springs in CA (I think Santa Ana, not sure) or National Spring in El Cajon, CA. I am told that Jeff at Deaver Spring is the better choice, as you can get your springs faster and he won't be happy until you are. A full set of springs for the rear will run you about $500. Not including shipping and installation. The springs can be set up for your type of driving (for instance, I do desert pre-running, I'll want softer rear springs) and for the amount of weight you normally carry in the back. I think that's a better option than to go with shackles OR add-a-leaf.

SO you suggest just getting a whole new set of rear springs and not just add a leaf? Those people that you mentioned, do they have web sites? HOw much do you think installation will run me? Will a 2" lift be high enough for a set of 33's?

NO 2" will not be enough.. I have 7" in my 94 and barely fit 33x12.5's..
I have heard this kit burns idler arms tho.. All this kit does up front is make it so you can over crank your torsion bars (the indexers) and gives upper arms so you can still align it.. Problems do arise from this, one is idler arms and another is the CV joints and the boots.. They do not like to be at this angle and will fail and at about $250 a side for the complete or about $15 in boots but $200 for labor (OUCH)..
I do agree with JR and say go with the shackle or a new spring pack.. AAL are a stiff ride and will fatigue over a short time.. Installation will probably run about $60 an hr @ about 4 to 5 hrs depending on where you live..
