4.3 engine

I have a 4.3 EFI engine. It is a vin z for the year 1995. My question is is this a CPI or a TBI and what is the diff. I am kind of stupid when it comes to engines, sorry.

Re: 4.3 engine

The easy way to tell what vin#Z engine it is, is by looking at the intake. On a TBI engine you'll see an air cleaner or some type of air box on top of the engine, on a CMPI or a CSMI engine you'll see an intake plenum with Vortech on it probably. Since CSMI or sequential injection started in '96 yours may be a late '95. The Central Multi port engines use 1 injecor and 6 poppet valves to control fuel, vs. the TBIs which used 2. Hope this info helps.
