98 2.2L in a 94 2.2L

I'm looking at getting a 94 2.2l S10 but it has a blown motor. I was wondering if a 2.2 out of a 98 would work. The only difference I can see is that a 94 is MPFI (multi-port fuel injected) and the 98 is SFI (Sequencial Fuel Injected). I was thinking all I would have to do is change the intake. I don't know if there's anything else to look out for like if any sensors are different?

The reason I'm asking is because the only motor I can get a hold of is out of a 98. Also my friend was telling me to replace the headgasket before I put the motor in because he said the 2.2l are common for the headgaskets going.

Thanx

Brandon

The 2.2 is a strong motor, the head head gasket will do fine as long as there's no oil in the water or vice-versa. Go ahead and change the vavle cover gasket, they get hard and crack, pour oil all over the exhaust side of the motor, big mess. About a $6 part and an hour's work....I think that swap should work just fine.
