99 Blazer 2wd - can\'t pull rear disc. Resolved

I'm trying to pull the rear rotors of my wifes 99 Blazer (S-10). 80,000 miles and they are worn out.

It's a 2 wheel-drive with rear disc brakes.

I have managed to remove the rear caliper/cradle, and worked the rotor loose, but I can't clear what I assume is the emergency brake inside the hat of the rotor..

How do you back it off?

The rotor can't slide off, and gets stuck (i.e. can't turn it) when I try to persuade it.

I see the emergency brake lever, but have no idea what to do?

Anybody got any first hand knowledge?
Is there a tool?
Diagram?

I'm this close to buttoning it back up and shop-ping it out

The rotors should just slide right off, try turning the rotors as you slide them off. If that fails you might want to use a rubber mallet and beat it a little to get rid of the dust. Thats all I ever do at work (GM technician).

I do rotate it as it starts to come off but it must be getting hung up on the lip on the inside of the rotor and it becomes stuck. It's hard to persuade it since the dust shield covers 3/4's of the back of the rotor.

I'll keep trying. I just bought new rotors today.

I muscled the rear disc rotors off. Right application of BFH to stratregically located points of anchorage (i.e. screw drivers stuck into the edge of the rotors).

The "u-shaped" parking brake is remarkably simple, and fairly unworn.

Rehang parking shoe, & new pads, should be able to reinstall on Monday with new rotors. Parts, parts, Parts!
