lean?, cuts out

I have a 1988 Chev PU with a 5.7 TBI that runs great at idle and at low end rpms but acts like it is governed when trying to accerate, or worse it will drop engine rpm at WOT when traveling at highway speeds, Replaced fuel filter, checked sensors (TPS, 02, MAP, EGR) the MAP appeared to be working except that the max output voltage is about 3.8 vdc, the Chilton's manual quotes 4.5vdc at wot. Will get a fault code 44, pulled a couple of spark plugs they were very light color, indicating a lean conditon. Any suggestions welcomed.
Thanks,
Randy

Re: lean?, cuts out

clogged fuel injectors. Have you tried running some fuel injector cleaner? It won't fix your problem, but it should make a difference. Try running a can in the fuel tank and one have it sucked in through the brake booster vacuum line. Once the vacuum sucks in the contents of the can. Shut the engine off and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. Start the engine. You will smoke for quite a while, don't worry it's only all the buildup getting burned off. One thing that may occur is the O2 sensors going bad after this due to the gunk running out the exhaust.

Hope this helps
