86 s10 4x tire and suspention questions

jsut wondering if anyone has any info on what would be the biggest tire i could fit in this truck with stock suspension? or if there is anyhting i can salvage off of a 1/2 or 3/4 ton to raise my truck, or off of any truck for that matter ... thanks

there is a chart in the FAQ section but according to it you can fit 30" tires without a lift and i f you wanted to lift it more but dont want to spend much it would be a good idea if you made your own body lift or you can put a shackle lift in the rear (homemade) and crank the torsion bars up in the front (makes for a very stiff ride)

thanks man i didnt think about shackles but im not fimilar with cranking tortion bars. what exactly do you do with them to get lift?

To get lift from torsion bars you just need to turn the adjuster bolt on the crossmember that holds the back of the torsion bar. You need to do the same number of cranks on both sides and measure to make sure both sides are raised the same amount then make adjustments accordingly. [img]images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Word of caution: Raising the torsion bars can cause undue wear on CV shafts and ball joints as well as causing a stiffer ride. [img]images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]

thanks paul that was great info. im gonna try to crank them a little and see what happens i have a bad cv axel now so i will replace it before i start.thanks again
