OUCH! check out these pics

well.............................................. ..................................i THOUGHT it was the pinion seal! time to start looking for a new rearend! i doubt im going to find another pussy s-10 rearend WITH 4.10s and a posi so it looks like im going to have to swap my steez into a new housing, correct? im not at all opposed to getting a heavier rear but what would be a bolt in? i have no access to welding/cutting but i can pull some [bleep] from the junkyard! under these conditions, would i be better off doing a swap rather than trying to put my gearset in another housing?

Try finding a 12-bolt from an old Camaro if ya want beef. Only thing is, your 4.10s ain't gonna fit. find a 10 bolt from a more current camaro, and you might luck out and get disc brakes.

Re: OUCH! check out these pics

here is an idea to toy with. What about running a new axle (a Toyota 8" and installing an electric locker) This will give you the street preformance of a limited slip and the off road abilities of a locker when you want it with a push of a button. You wouldn't need to install a compressor and air lines or deal with a completely locked rear end. I know it is a little crossbreeding and I am not sure it would line up exactly but I have seen it once but not with the electric lockers this one hade detroit lockers and 4.56 gears.

Re: OUCH! check out these pics

Well 4.10's and 4.11 are the same, just like some have 3.54 and 3.55. As far as your posi, I take it you mean a factory limited slip, or do you have a locker installed? Well no you cant use a factory limited slip in an open carrier. Now if you have a aftermarket locker, Yes it can be used in a open diff.
