GMC Jimmy

I'm thinking about buying a GMC Jimmy soon. I was wondering if it would be a good truck for 4wheeling? How expensive would it be to lift it high enough for 35" tires? I'm guessing the best thing to do would be to do a little body and a little suspension?

Any idea what kind of axles are on a jimmy? I'm guessing a jimmy and a blazer are made almost exactly alike but I dont really know that either.

Re: GMC Jimmy

It would take a LOT of effort to get 35's on there. There aren't that many lifts for the mid-size vehicles. Trailmaster comes to mind however...

The trucks are fairly the same, sans badging.

Axles in the rear are usually the "little" 10-bolt corporates. You might actually have a bigger pinion gear than the trucks, which is a good thing.

I would check into getting a ZR2 or Sonoma Highrider if they still make 'em in an SUV. Probably less to worry about in the long run, and there are more lift kits for them.

Re: GMC Jimmy

Maybe 35s are a little more than I should go with a Jimmy then. With a 2" suspension lift and a 3" body lift could I fit 33" tires and maybe 34"?

I cant really seem to find any good budget small suspension lifts though myself. But Im searching and searching heh.
