Electrical Short??????

My battary is being completely drained after sitting for 2-3 hrs.
Changed alternator, same thing. Any ideas were to start looking for a drain/short? 89 S-15 2.8 and as base model as you can find.

Re: Electrical Short??????

Sounds like a bad cell to me. Have the battery checked. You might want to get a new one.

Re: Electrical Short??????

Have your battery checked. If it is OK. then place a test light in series between the positive cable and the positive post on the battery. The light should burn dimly then go out. If the light is burning bright, there is a draw on the battery. (Make sure the door is closed and all accesories are off when you do this). Pull fuses one at a time to see if you can find out which circut is causing the draw. (Light will go out when you pull the fuse that has the draw).

Try the glove box light although that shouldn't drain you that quickly.
