35 inch muds

im going to be doing an sas on my 85 s-10. im hoping to run 35" tires so i'm wondering, what should my axle choice(s) be. i will swap the rear if need be. will 44's hold up to the 35's?

Re: 35 inch muds

Best bet is a D44 up front, and a 31-spline 9" out back. a pair of D44s should hold... but if you snag a pair of axles from an Early Bronco, you're laughing.... they're only 1.5" narrower than the S10-s track. Easily made up with the rims you'll be running. And yes, they'll hold up to 35s if you're running a 4.3 (even a well built one) or a mild 350 and are smart on the break-stuff pedal.

*Just a note, Mark Hall runs a D44 and 9" on his Pit racer S10... He rolls on 38s, and has a 350 under the hood making well over 300 ponies... Mind you, he's dumped close to 50 grand into that truck)
