s-10 swimming lessons!

the ole s-10 took a dunk last night and stalled out. i can't get the bitch started anymore. it has plenty of juice but won't crank over. when i try to start it i get a quick series of ticks, but nothing else. does this sound like a solenoid problem?

Hope you drained the oil out and put fresh stuff in... ditto on the tranny, diffs, etc. any of that stuff emulsifies and you can kiss your entire powertrain goodbye.

That's why I'm not a huge fan of deep water or watery mud.

Re: s-10 swimming lessons!

Indeed.

And then I would go so far as to see if your distributor is still waterlogged. In most cases where water has gone over the hood this is something to check first. Once the wet stuff under the cap has dried out it might work.

Along the same lines you might end up replacing silly stuff like the coil, etc. They are watertight but could have been burned on trying to start it up again...

You might want to pull the plugs, crank it over, and make sure theres no water in the motor...

I'll agree with the chocopudding mud. We got red clay here on the island. What flavor would dark red be?

Mmmmmm, raspberry.....

Down in Baja they have this thick sludge that swallows shoes and kneecaps. And I don't wanna know what flavor it is! It doesn't smell too good!

Re: s-10 swimming lessons!

thanks for helping me out guys but as it turns out, some mud somehow managed to creep up in the battery connector letting by just enough juice to power the headlights but not enough for the starter...crazy huh? i went back up to the campsite to fetch my air cleaner lid hehe. its a little bent, and of course i didn't hit that puddle again. i hit all the other ones though nice pudding mud, the truck is covered.
