Q\'s on Gears, ARB

Over my trip to San Felipe I've noticed that:
1. I REALLY need to get air conditioning in my lifetime (117 degrees high point on the trip home).
2. I REALLY need new gears. And might as well get a good locker.

For at least number two, does anyone have any experience with the ARB locker or know of any good gear sets? I'm looking for either 4.10 or 4.56 with 31" BFG Mud-Terrains. With the locker I just want something that I can turn off and not have to worry too much about road wear; it'll still do 80+ on the freeways. At this point if I'm going to buy something like this I'm going to go all the way live.

The ARB site shows 10 bolt applications, but I need to know if I have a 28 spline count or if I have the 30 spline count (ooooh, please say 30!) Anyone know what that would be for a 1998 4x4 S10 truck (non-ZR2).

Re: Q\'s on Gears, ARB

Id call randys or someother gear type shop, reider racing is who I bought my first locker from, and their customer service (and pricing) for my application were the best I run an EZ locker in the rear, and aside from the clickity click sound around corners in parkinglots and such, I like it alot, and it was CHEAP. ARB's are expensive, hard to set up, and did I mention expensive, other than being EXPENSIVE they are real nice!!! Id assume you have the 27, but I could be wrong, call them or check you self, is that in the RPO codes anywere?

most 4.3 powered S-trucks with the small 10 use 28 spline shafts.

Sonofa...

Awright. I figure that I'm under that group as well. It's pretty much a bone stock drivetrain.

Thanks guys.

PDaddy, yeah, they're expensive, but lately it's been a "Go Big or Go Home" kind of deal. I like the option of having an open diff on the road (those BFG's are damned expensive too!) and then basically having a spooled rear end when I need it. Plus the extra compressor idea is cool to have.

It's not something I'm gonna have right away, but it'll be nice.

I'll give it some thought!

At this point anything is open season with gears and lockers, but I'm still hanging on to the dream of getting an ARB!
