my anntena is loose

when I got my truck it was in poor condition and I have been tring to get it up to snuff. I think that I have most everything but... My anntenna base is loose. I have looked in my haynes manual and cant find anything on it. Does anyone know if I have to remove the inner fender to get to it? Or how to I tighten it up?

Re: my anntena is loose

If your's is like mine, you need to unscrew the "whip" of the antenna from the base, and use a set of channel-locks to tighten the many sided star type nut on the base. After you snug up that nut, put the whip back on. Good luck

I think there is a plate on the bottom that catches the fender. Is yours not tightening up? perhaps your threads are striped ot something.

Re: my anntena is loose

My truck had the same problem, it was wrecked in front and the S.O.B. who supposedly fixed it left the bracket off inside the fender, which I had to take the fender off to replace it, but you should be able to reach yours through the opening inside the fender, there is a small maybe 10mm bolt that holds the bracket to the inside the fender. You just don't get very good reception with just an antenna lead! Hope this helps you!

Re: my anntena is loose

give me a better idea on this 10 mm bolt because I did attempt the channel lock thing and it tightened about 2 turns but that is not enough.
