Re: Little Question

You'll never see a humvee that can top 60mph. Hummers may have OD - I don't know.

Re: Little Question

They use the 6.5 L turbo diesel...190 hp, 430 ft lbs.
I think they use a 4L80 tranny, 4th gear is .75:1

Re: Little Question

I work on hmmwv's in the Army and the fastest I have gotten one is about 65. That is with a TH400 trans and 6.2 diesel. The engine was roaring at this speed. The newer models have the 4L80E tranny (yes it has overdrive) and can probably go a little faster, but not much. The 6.5 diesel and 6.5 turbo may help in speed too, but with 3.73 gearing in the diffs, and another 2.72 (I think) in the geared hub the final drive is pretty low.

Re: Little Question

I think I read that the hub ratio is 1.92....the 2.72 could be the low range of the NV 242 transfer case, at least that's what it is in the Jeep Cherokee XJ and Grand Cherokee NP/NV 242 cases.

Re: Little Question

1.92 sounds a little closer. I couldn't remember off the top of my head.
