This one\'s a keeper!!! Pics

A month or so ago I posted about coming across a deal on an Excursion. I sold it in a couple days and heve regretted since. Well the wife and I were talking about what to drive to Vegas when we go. The choices; 2002 Supercrew- nice but sucks on gas and not much inside storage, 2001 Sable- good gas mileage, cramped interior, my head hits the headliner, its a car. So the wife decided it was time for a minivan, I think minivans are great for their intended purpose, moving people, but thats it. So we go to my Ford dealer and start to look at Windstars, drive a few and I'm hating every minute of it, but this will be the wifes car and I'll let her pick it. After repeated test drives and me pouting the whole time wife says oh just go buy another bus (Excursion). I did make the mistake of letting her pick it out though so we ended up with a bit more truck than I wanted. 2003 Limited V10(duck here comes a plug!), 4.30 crap lock. So if gas prices start to go up in the west next week, I am to blame for single handedly creating a shortage. So the new Excursion's a keeper and so is the wife for being so cool! I'll post some pics tomorrow, the rig not the wife, get your mind out of the gutter.

Re: This one\'s a keeper!!!

Congratulations on the buy. I personally think excursions are the greatest SUV on the road. There the only ones that still feel like a truck and not a jacked up station wagon. If I ever won the lotto I've decided that I would buy a new excursion and chop out the middle section, shorten it up and make myself a brand new Bronco. I think it would be awesome.

I do have one question though, why not go for the diesel? Your probably going ot get 8-12mpg outta that beast, with the diesel you coulda got almost double. I'm still kind of regretting not waiting out to find a good used diesel. Oh well hopefully in 2 years when my trucks paid off I'll trade it in for a brand new one and get exactly what I want.

That would be about as cool as it gets! As far as the diesel question, I thought about it alot, it basically came down to price. I could buy a V10 for about $7,000 less than either powerstroke. I figure that can buy alot of gas. I'm sure I'll be having nightmares about towing up a long grade and having strokers flying by while I'm in the slow lane but I'll have to live with it. I think Ex's are awesome too, but ridiculous as a daily driver.

Then again I think my Bronco is ridiculous as a daily driver, it's just a weekend play machine.

Muddy, with the 6.0PSTD, your little creation there would smoke the little fast/furious crew. Of course that new auto tranny would bolt directly to the rearend, but hey, it'd be waaay coool! Looks like an ol' isuzu amigo on 'roids with Arnold as a personal trainer.
