Ok, Im running a 302 in a samurai and decided to rear mount the radiator due to clearance issues ( go figure ), the radiator is high mounted on the roll cage and I plan to run a 24" fan on it but will that be enough? I thought I would ask the question here to see if it would run hot or not, by the way Im not running a/c or power steering....
If you're talking about mud use, there's no such thing as too much cooling! For normal use, 24" sounds good, but it ultimately depends on the flow rating of the fan. I know on paper you're looking at hundreds of amps to get a fan that can match the flow of the stock belt-driven one at high revs!
I'm with Muddy, what are the specs on the big fan? It will likely be at least drawing 30+ amps, so you will need a decent charging system. I would also make sure your water pump is a good one, and your coolant routing is well thought out. Not only is the fan important, but what is the radiator, 2 core, 3 core, bigger?
Sorry so late, but not so sure on radiator size, all I know is I high mounted and at a slant to help cool it, as of now Im going to try 2 10 inch fans, not to sure on amps tho as they were donated to me, I figure with as much wind travel that goes through the zuk it should be fine but there will be only one way to tell about that
