New rims and tires

Well I have been waiting to try and find a deal on some 33x12.50 MTR but no luck. I came across a guy that had sold his Dodge but kept the wheels and tires. They only have about 2,000 miles on them with good tread. He was sick of them sitting in his garage so he let the whole set go for $300. Not the size I wanted and wheels aren't really my style but it should be fine. I'll let you know how the tires behave. 31x12.50 SSR American Racing Baja rims.

Re: New rims and tires

The tires only had 2k on them? Thats a good score. Now you've got 31x12.50 Super Swamper SSR's (nice tire, those were on my list, cept in 35"), on 15 x 10 American Racing wheels for $75/ea? That's a good socre in my book.

new, tires about $170 ea.
wheels $100ea. roughly

Re: New rims and tires

Well today I compared them to the 33x12.50 swamper radials I have on my Dodge, they have about 1800 miles on them now. The seller may have fudged the mileage number a bit but not too bad, the regular radials had slightly more tread, but I can't believe the difference in width. The SSR's were over 2" wider. They are on a 10 inch rim vs 8 inch on the dodge but I was still surprised. On that note I am beginning to think they look kinda funny being so short and fat, we'll have to see how they wheel before I make up my mind on this set.

Re: New rims and tires

Nice! And since we (you) are on the subject, I have a '92 F350 with 31x12.50.16.5's. I was recently in the sand and aired down though was warned that 16.5's do not have a safety bead. True? And, if so, and you were going to 35's, would you switch to 16's or 17's, considering that pulling a 26ft. travel trailer is in the truck's future? Any help would be appreciated. Those do look good!
I'll bet your rig corners like there's no tomorrow with the profile of those tires.

8" vs 10" rims will make a big difference in the footprint.
(as you seem to have found out)

Re: New rims and tires

Its not that oddball of a size, i know a couple 'heep and 'zuk owners that run that size.
But if the size starts to get to you, switch over to 15*8 rims, and theyll end up taller and narrower than they are now.
