First Road Trip in the Escape....Bodily Carnage

Took last Friday the 4th off, and headed up to Kalispell, to attack The Big Mountain, which I've never skiied before.
Plus, it's the first road trip for us and the doogies in the wife's new Escape.
(Hey, it's a Ford!)

Loaded up, and the doogies got their spots picked out.

Got the adapters to fit my Yakima ski "button downs" on the stock roof rack.
Kinda looks a little small compared to the Bronc' eh?

First "pee spot" for the doogies, (and the driver).
I think Janet is trying to figure out where the chocolate dog - Josephine ran off to.
Auggie's just looking for more property to buy.

Sittin' perty in the parking lot at the LaQuinta Inn, in Kalispell the following morning.

Ahhh, on the road and entering the ski area in my buddy John's rig. (Dakota from the last trail run).

Annnnnnndddddddd.
Here's Doug in the motel room 3-1/2 hours later.
Broke a metacarpal (big bone) in my thumb.
1st run......3rd turn.
Tried to "clothes line" a tree.....and I lost.
(Note: I'm not that short. I haven't converted to the short skis yet, and I'm 5'10" to give you an idea of what I ski on.)

All in all, I'm liking the 'Scape, but I still consider it a "sensory deprivation tank" compared the ole Bronc'.
Hey, at 23-24mpg average for the trip....I'll take it.....especially with the snap that DOHC 3.0 V6 puts out.
Had to lock in the 4X a few times as well.
Worked pretty dang nice on all the ice through the Swan Valley.
Anti-lock brakes are pretty special too, when you're dealing with a couple hundred deer per mile through that valley.

Sooo, I'm going to be a bit slow on responses for the next few weeks.
This typing with 1 hand, and maybe 2 fingers on my right....bites!
Ha! You should see me try to write anything down now.

A little off topic but my 2 year old is sitting at the computer with me and he tells me you are watching Stanley which is a cartoon on the Disney channel in that pic. Who chose that you or the dogs

Yknow, the first thought that ran through my head was "Oh no! What happened to the Escape?!" But then i saw it was only your hand, and was like "Phew, its only Doug"
But seriously, that does suck, but im glad that thats all the 'bodily carnage' you recieved

Re: First Road Trip in the Escape....Bodily Carnage

Who picked that channel anyway?

Funny you asked that, TheJuice and mobyguzzer!
Soon after that shot, I was sitting in the hot tub, drinking a couple brewskies, and waiting for Janet to get back.
When I left the room, the TV was on a news channel. (got to keep them doogies educated).
When I got back, it was on the cartoon network, with both doogies lounging on the bed, watching intently.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Re: First Road Trip in the Escape....Bodily Carnage

My sympathies (from the other CADD/Graphics "Doug" on the board) !!

You are, indeed, lucky that the bodily damage was you & not mama's new Escape ... I bet she'd've broken more than one bone had you damaged the new vehicle!
