Early Bronco 4 speed

I am interested in buying a early bronco and putting the drivetrain in my 88 Jeep Wrangler. I am wondering if the T-18, T-19 or the NP 435 was ever used in a Bronco? I was told that the T-18 was used with a 4 to 1 ratio Dana 20, but I can not find any info to back that up. What trannies where used with what transfer cases and what years where they available. Also if you could tell me what front and rear axles where available in what years. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Re: Early Bronco 4 speed

The early bronco never had an underdrive 4-speed avaliable. Most 4 speed broncos have been converted using a NP435 or T-18 using the Advanced Adapters' kit.
As for the axles. Any bronco 71 to 77 had a Dana 44 front. 76, 77 had disc brakes. Some broncos (optional) had a 31 spline rear axle shafts vs the 28 spline. When looking for a Dana 20 transfer case, look for the straight shifting case.
Hope this helps,

Re: Early Bronco 4 speed

The 66-77 bronco's had three speeds on the column. Starting in 73 (i think) you could get a automatic (c4 I believe). All 4speeds are swaps as far as I know. If you do use a 3speed check what they come out of. The 3speeds that came with 6cyl were not the same as the v8's. If installed behind a bit of an engine they will not last very long.
