Winches, havack

$500 is WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY too much for those things. only one of them had any cable on it, & it wasn't in very good shape - kinks. None of them had the wiring, fairlead, or control pendant. Only the extended-drum one had an ID plate, but it said 8000 lb - currently, only the 12000 is available with a long drum, so that doesn't seem right. It's model no. was something like DC200R-NA, but all the current MN's start with RE. Also, when I asked the fat jerk (who was doing his level best to ignore me) if he even guaranteed they worked, he just said they worked when they were removed - meaning he wasn't taking any responsibility.

Anyway, without knowing what model & rating they are or whether or not they work, I can't see paying more than $200. A Warn roller fairlead is $70, 100' of cable will be about $150, a control is probably $50, a thimble & hook will be at least $20, & enough 2ga. wire to hook them up will be $30. That's $520 invested in something with no warranty. A new RE8000R can be had for $800, so even $200 might be too high...

I didn't ask what came with. I just saw the type you wanted. Did you see if he would come down?

Re: Winches, havack

The fat guy that was there didn't seem like he was interested or authorized to haggle, so I left. But you're right - that's what I want. If I could track down the MN of that long drum & it turns out to be a 12000, I might go $350 on it, but I'm sure they won't go for that. My only chance is to run into John there - he's much easier to get along with.
