Geez you really look a vehicle over don't you ?

My 86 on the truck scales, without me and my 250 pound lightweight of a Father, was 4600lbs.

Re: Weight of 1986 Bronco ?

Thanks for the help guys. That bronco weighs as much as my scout II.And thats one heck of a bumper you got there!!I'm lookin this Bronco over real good 'cuz I got a hankerin for a scout and ran right out and bought me one and the thing only gets 9-12 mpg.It wheels real well but the things just weren't made for $1.35 a gallon gas.I've got a little mazda p/u to drive but I'm paying insurance on two rigs and I don't want to keep makin them insurance places richer. So I'm lookin to find something to get decent mileage but still be full size. Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Weight of 1986 Bronco ?

5950lbs. sounds more like the "gross vehicle weight" on the sticker.
Course, that does look like 1000lbs. of a bumper there.
My '85 tipped the scales at 4765.
That was with my 190lb. butt in the seat, and 1/2 tank of gas.
Split almost on the money (50/50) from front to rear.
Footnote: .89˘! We're getting ripped here! It's $1.39 for regular, but I've got to run the $1.59 92oct super. Ahhhhh!

Re: Weight of 1986 Bronco ?

GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is bascially the maximum that your truck should weigh, like curb weight+aftermarket bumpers+all your gear should not exceed GVWR. GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating) is the maximum amount of weight you should have over either axle. IIRC, the GAWR for my 10.25 full floater rear is around 5600 lbs, or more than the curb weight of the entire truck LOL! Of course the stock leaf springs would never take that much weight.
Here you can see that the GVWR of a '90 Bronco was 6300lbs, the front GAWR was 2800 lbs, and the rear GAWR for the stock 8.8 was 3770 lbs.
