flowmaster exhaust

ok... i have the k&n filter deal installed and now it's time for some exhaust. my question is would a 40 series be "too loud" or should i opt for the 50 series for suv's and trucks. i think that i was told to get the 40 series by a rep at white's pit stop here in lansing, il. our local race shop. also does anyone know if my 94 xlt 5.0 has 2 1/4 diameter pipes or 2 1/2? on the flowmaster webpage it has the single inlet with the dual outlet. that's what i plan on going with. thnaks in advance.

Re: flowmaster exhaust

Go with the 40 series if you want to hear anything at all, i got the 50 series and its very quiet...

Summitracing catalog shows 87-96 broncos w/5.0&5.8 with a 21/4 exiting the cat, but i would measure it yourself.

Re: flowmaster exhaust

Yeah... the 40 series on the factory exhuast is about as quiet as a stock Camaro. Its really pathetic too, on my 88, the cat's are really plugging up the system with 187,000 miles on them, so I just run straight manifolds for now Less stinky, about the right noise level too

Try to get some aftermarket cat's on there if you want to here something good, otherwise, after my mistake, I wouldnt get anything new on the exhaust system unless I was totally replacing it.

Re: flowmaster exhaust

I have a Flowmaster Series 70 Muffler on my 1984 Bronco with 2.5" duals coming from my 460. Sounds good.. nice rumble..

Broncos are a PITA for putting true duals on.. not much room under there.. I have the exhaust coming off the headers.. through 2 cats, into the Dual in/Dual out Series 70 Flowmaster, then exiting just under the rear bumper at 45 degrees on both sides....

Sounds nice

Re: flowmaster exhaust

I'd say 40 Series. I had the Delta Flow 50 Series and I ripped it off, because the sound was weak. No muffler now.
