wierd sound after start?

sometimes i hear a wierd grinding/scratching sound when i start my truck and it stays for a few seconds or until i rev the engine. it sounds like it might be a flywheel/clutch thing. i've also noticed lately that my clutch hasn't been grabbing quite as good as it used to. we just replaced the clutch about a year ago so hopefully that's not the problem. anyone know what this might be?

Re: wierd sound after start?

Could be the starter gear is sticking?

Havack!

The main difference in my truck and yours is your truck is a toy and my truck is a truck!

Gotta agree with Havack.
Starter.
However, one other possibility,
You DID put in a new "throwout bearing" when you replaced the clutch, didn't you?

Re: wierd sound after start?

if it was the starter, wouldn't it make the same noise as if my truck was on and i turned the ignition key? if so that's not it because its a lot more subtle than that

Re: wierd sound after start?

I hope you don't hit the starter with the truck on very often. That might explain any wierd sounds the starter is making now.
