Bronco VS Ram pickup??

Guys, a buddy just got a 94 Ram 2500 with the dana 60 in the rear. Its a 5 speed with a very low 1st gear. In 4lo its super super low. He just got new 33 inch Goodyear Mt's. It has the 360. It is a longbed regualr cab. My bronco is a 85 XLt with the 351 and 4 barrel and 32 inch Big O At's. Only thing not stock is my true dual flows. How well do you think my bronc will do against his ram offroad in mud, hill climbs, rocks, etc..... How well do you think it will do with the same size (33") mud tires?? Pros and cons. Thnks.

Re: Bronco VS Ram pickup??

You and your buddy could talk about it all you want... There's only one way to find out how they would compare in the mud. Go find yourself some trails and go for a ride!

All things considered, these are both very capable vehicles in thier own respects. I would have to say that your buddy's biggest drawback is the wheelbase. An extended cab AND long bed make for an awfully long truck! I'd rather navigate the trails in a Bronco. (full-size power, yet a shorter wheelbase than even a short bed pickup!)

Besides, does his top come off? I don't think so...

Good point sriff raff. I said the wheelbase thing too. Would his longer wheelbase make him a better hillclimber?? I do know this, when I do get my 33 inch swampers that it will show him up like no other.

Re: Bronco VS Ram pickup??

those dana 60's will hurt his clearance but that 360 has some power so watch out... long wheelbase can help in the mud, since you can be buried up in the rear and be on dry ground up front, but also could get him high-centered.

but really this isn't worth discussing, there's only one REAL way to find out

BTW, why don't you have a Z yet? That would beat the dodge for sure ;-)

JEEP, it's what's for dinner.

Re: Bronco VS Ram pickup??

Does he have lockers? Do you? I know I just got stuck down on the coast of Texas, and if I would have had any type of locker on either the front or rear I would not have gotten stuck. Also what are the Big O a/t's comparable to?(what big name, just for the idea of tread pattern)

Wasn't the Dodge a single cab? Though someone said it was extended...

single cab long bed... guess not too much longer than a bronco, but noticable.

Re: Bronco VS Ram pickup??

The Big o's are comparable I guess to a BFG, maybe not as good but Id say their better than most. Im sure they have a website, take a look at em if you want. Anyway, I found that the 360 Magnum has around 345 lbs of torque and 245 HP, so yeah Id better watch out for that power. Ford dont have that kind of motor excpet well, the beloved lil (yeah right) 460!

Re: Bronco VS Ram pickup??

At what RPM's does it make that power, cause if it is real high, and he has to keep his pile revved real high, he might be lookin' for a new engine.
