4.0L - Timing belt or chain?

Does anybody know if Ford's 4.0 Liter engine has a rubber timing belt or a steel timing chain?

Re: 4.0L - Timing belt or chain?

As far as I know, the 4.0L OHV, and the SOHC are chain driven timing components.

Not the ones you know about...I think he was just looking for some basic Ford info., or maybe Bronco II since the 2.9 evolved into a 4.0

I was just messin' with him (notice the laugh icon).

And I don't consider Bronco II's to be Broncos any more than an LTD II is an LTD or a Mustang II is a Mustang. They're totally different vehicles with similar names.

Re: 4.0L - Who cares???

What year Explorer is he thinking of getting??

Steve, we're agreed about the Bronco II - Bronco thing. The Mustang II was a disgrace (my condolences to any of you Mustang II owners)

If you really want to mess with Thump, I say we pull a "midnight auto" run to his house, and remove enough parts on his rig to really get his troubleshooting skills honed....
Thump...buddy....how about posting your address? maybe I should save the idea for a trip to someone's house on the Chevy board...

Re: 4.0L - Who cares???

The price limit is about $12k. I'm thinking 1995+ model years would be about right.

You can try a midnight run if you feel lucky. I probably wouldn't notice any missing parts anyway.

Re: You won\'t notice?

Well, great then! Just post your address and a list of all the parts on your truck, so we can decide if there's anything we want.
