96\' Bronco ?\'s

Hello Everyone, I'm new to the board here and there is some great information here. I'm in the process of purchasing a 1996 Bronco XLT 5.0L, 5 speed manual, fully loaded with the factory tow package. The truck looks in real good shape, it has 68,000 miles on it for $15,400.00. It seems like the only thing this truck has that none of the others have that I've looked at is a 60/40 bench seat, and no outside spare tire carrier in the back.
I was wondering if having a bench seat is normal in a XLT since all I've really found have the buckets with a console or someone has changed it and what else I should be looking at on this truck before I buy it.
Also, 5 speed manuals are really hard to fine in a Bronco XLT package, how do I know which transmition is in this Bronco (M5OD or the ZF). . I used to have a 79' Bronco 4 speed that I sold about 2 years ago, because the rust was just getting too bad, and I really miss having a Bronco, so now it's time to go get another one.

Thanks for all the info and I look forward to being part of this board.

Re: 96\' Bronco ?\'s

yo nj!
I have a 96 bronco..bought it new in 96 here in south jersey.
that model is rare!..they did offer the bench in 96..as well as the 5 sp in the xlt too.

the mileage seems high for the price..Ive seen some for $13,500K to 15k here under 50k miles..xlt's and EB's.

you can check some dealer sites on line.

and:

for info on that model you want.
it says..."Five-passenger seating is standard, with firm buckets up front, but a six-seat variation can be ordered."

Re: 96\' Bronco ?\'s

Price is steep. You may like the 5 speed manny tranny (I would too,) but most people won't like it so I'd say it should LOWER the value of the Bronc. The bench seat is an oddity and kind of out of place in a Bronc unless you want to lie down or something. Offer the guy a couple of grand less. Tell him you hate the tranny and bench seat.
My used 96 cost me quite a bit less than the asking price you stated and the thing had 20K on it when I got it a year and a half ago ! 351 - auto tranny XLT.
