weird noise?

I just got home from going out to eat at eat n park and my bronco is making a weird noise from the front near the radiator and fan area. Sounds like something inside my radiator floating around and making a clicking noise, or like the fan is hitting something metal and causing a rattling noise. This is on a newly rebuiilt engine, that I am still in the process of breaking in. Just about to hit 500 miles on rebuild so it's about time to change oil. Everything was rebuilt except the heads, but it really doesn't sound like it is something inside the engine. I really haven't had a chance to look at it because it is 1:30 am and raining here, but I will be looking at it tomorrow. Any suggestions as to what to be looking for. I was thinking something as simple as possibly a bolt on the fan is loose and is rattling? but not sure. Again it is a sort of clicking/rattling noise. Any Help or ideas greatly appreciated!

Re: weird noise?

Check the fan shroud and radiator fins to see if the blades are contacting either. Get a 3' piece of hose or a long metal bar (like a big screwdriver or prybar) and use it to listen to the alternator bearings and the smog pump. Also, look behind the fan for a wire or hose that the blade is hitting. Water coming out of the radiator and hitting the blades will make a similar noise.
