How do you remove the armrests on captain chairs?

I'd like to take the armrests off of my captain chairs on my '96. I want to swap the driver and passenger side so the top will become the bottom and you won't be able to see the wear on the leather. Hope that makes sense.

Re: How do you remove the armrests on captain chairs?

My armrest is cloth, not leather like yours.

To remove mine, I unzipped the zip-lock near the pivot point, which allowed me to reach the torx bolt with a T50 socket.

If your armrest is like mine, the driver's side cannot be removed easily, because of the string mechanism that is designed to raise the arm-rest when the seat is slid forward.

I completely forgot about the string thing. I'll take a look at mine and see what I can figure out. I may just leave them alone if it looks like to much trouble. Thanks.
