Which tranny?

I thought I had an E4OD trans in my 87 bronco but I just read that it wasn't introduced until 89. Now I'm totally confused. I'm learning Ford and their various engines and trans, but, now I'm lost. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Which tranny?

I would guess you have a C6. E4OD is a four speed. C6 is a three speed.

To be certain, Look at your driver side door panel. All of the secrets are on the sticker. What engine, tranny axle, springs, down to the color of the trim and body striping.

If you post the tranny code I''ll check it against my 88 manual. I don't think they changed codes between 87 and 88.

Hey Dan-H,

Nice info. Can you post the codes for the engine, axles, etc? It would really come in handy for me. Thanks!

Re: Which tranny?

I'll try to scan the pages and post them. The tranny was one table for all platforms (F150,F250 E250 and U150 (i.e. Bronco). The engines and axles had a table for each kind of truck.

The axle codes have alot more choices, and vary between years and between broncos/F150s and F250s so it can be abit misleading What I mean is. I think H6 is 3.55 limited slip on an 88 bronco, but on an 88 F250 H6 may be 3.07. I check when I get home.

Re: Which tranny?

That would be great if you have the time to do that. I'm interested in Bronco specs.
