Trouble Replacing Fuel Filter

Last night I tried replacing the fuel filter but I was unable to because I could not figure out how to loosen the fuel lines on each side of the filter. The ford manual said to just twist hard and pull - my filter twists easily but it refuses to budge. I swear if I twist any harder I would break the fuel line push connector or slam my hand up against something and be in great pain. Could someone shed some light? There must be an easier way.

Re: Trouble Replacing Fuel Filter

You need a special tool. There is a finger type clip inside the line. If by chance you did pull the finger clips out of the line they are replacable. About $.50 from FORD.
