300 6cyl question
I put a 300 6cyl in my 1968 M715 to replace the old, tired, exspensive to find parts for 230. I have the engine running but need to adjust the timing. When I look at the harmonic balancer there is a notch cut into it on the back of the pulley and it appears to correspond with the marks on the front cover. However turning the engine over by hand to where the #1 is at TDC on either stroke the mark is no where near the scale 90degrees or more off. The crank has a key weight that runs from the timing gear to the harmonic balancer so I know I didn't install it wrong. I am thinking maybe the PO switched it with something else like maybe a 240?
