main rear seal

My 1990 bronco has a really bad rear main oil leak. It has a 351 motor and the local garage wants a grand to fix it. They claim you have to pull the engine to fix it. I am not satisfied with that. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
thanks bob

Re: main rear seal

You either have to pull the motor or move the tranny back. it's a one piece seal. The part itself is relatively cheap. There's some labor with this one. I'd only charge ya 500. 400 if you brought beer. lol. I don't know if I'd trust me though because mine leaks too. probably should have seen if I could have sleaved the input shaft for a better seal as my input shaft probably has a groove in it from rotating year after year.
