bigger tires

hi. i have a 1989 ford f150 XL with a 6" suspension lift, 3" body lift and bushwacker cut out fender flares. i'm looking to put 44" tires on my truck but i'm not sure if they would rub the fenders. can someone please tell me what the biggest size of tire i could fit on my truck would be. thanks.

Re: bigger tires

No bigger than 38s. Different people will tell you different things but anything more than a 36 inch tire is really stressing the limits of the factory axles. 44s would deff require an axle swap.

Re: bigger tires

Check out this wheel fittment calculater at NTW website. http://www.ntwonline.com/TEMPLATE.CFM?ID=6

You had better heed the D44 warning. I'm moving to 35" on my '91 with 4:88 and Detroit Locker and that's pushing it. If you have an IFS front and get on it in 4WD, you will break axles.

Re: bigger tires

The Dana 44TTB axles hold up just fine stock with tires as big as 35s...some will hold up to 36s. Anything bigger is pushing the limits of not only the front but also the rear Ford 8.8 axle. Time for a front and year axle swap.
