6 cylinder performance

I just found out about a motor I can't afford and was looking for opinions...it is a 300 out of an 83 F-150. His Dad rebuilt it to basically stock a few years ago with an RV cam. When Dillon got it he put on a CLifford intake and Clifford headers with a Holley 500 2 barrel carb. I know Clifford reccomends the Holley 390CFM 4 barrel for this set up. He must've thought the 2 barrel would have more right now punch than the 4.
But it isn't constant power and has dead spots. It has done only 2 races before exploding the T-case and being parked. He is a kid who gets bored with things easy...I already bought the 33X10.50 Swampers off of it for $100. He wants $400 for the complete motor with manifolds and almost new centerforce clutch.

Re: 6 cylinder performance

if he is that hard on things i would pass but buy the parts off of him. the motor itself is probably hurtin as well. that is to much carb for so little of motor.
