Motor Swap ?

I want to put the FI 5.8 motor from my 88 Bronco into a 79 Bronco that is a race only vehicle. Will the 88 moter bolt right up to the auto tranny in the 79? The 79 is currently a 351 w/ auto the 88 is 5.8 w/ C-6 auto. Does anyone have any experience with swapping in a computer controlled motor that can give some advice on how to handle it. Will I need any special harness? How about the O2 sensors? This will be a race only truck. Any suggestions on what to do to the FI motor to get more power. Any help appreciated.

Re: Motor Swap ?

well you will need to change trannies because the motor in your 79 is a 351m which uses a different bolt pattern then your 88 351w. also using the 88's speed density efi system would suck . I suggest you go maf kit from that would make going efi the easiest. you may also need to change the frame mounts as well. good luck
