Vibration when I accelerate, what do you think????

Hi guys,

I'm having some strange vibration when I accelerate, almost feels like a wheel out of balance, but it's only when I accelerate. I just greased my U-Joints on the driveshaft yesterday, and it started shortly after that. You think the grease got on one side more than another and is causing vibration? I dunno, but anyone have any ideas....I'm driving 2 hours each way tomorrow and wonder if it's wise with this going on.

Might help if you knew what I was driving huh......1993 F150 4X4

Greeeat, sounds like fun. I have noticed there's some slop when I step on the gas, so that makes sense. BLAAAA, always something. Can't complain though, this thing has almost 200K on it.

Did you lubricate the slip yoke? It may not help but then again. it may.

Hi...
Had the exact same problem - My rear U-Joint was on the verge of crapping out - check for play in all of your U-joints. Is the vibration very noticable? Also, check for rear end bearing play...
Hope this helps...

You might want to check all of your u joints and if they are ok you may want to check you tires to see if they have shifted belts because that wil cause a vibration as well.

Re: Vibration when I accelerate, what do you think

Try shifting into neutral and coasting if the vibration goes away or gets much better it is probably the U-joint.
I just replaced the ones in my '90 Bronco.
You might also check the balancing weights on the driveshaft, one of mine came off while I was replacing the u-joint and I had to tack weld it back.
If you can see where it came off you will have to get it balanced.
