setting up a tow bar on 1992 Bronco.

Has anyone set up a tow bar on a big bronco? I need to get my truck from Virginia to Texas and wanted to tow behing my f250. What is the best set up for a bar and lights?

Walmart has a nice reese bar for around $50! I've used them for all kinds of things. Drill holes in the bumper and have at it they work great! make sure and use the spacer blocks that go in behind them so you dont rip the bolts through your bumper.. As for lights best bet is to get a set of trailer lights and a trailer wiring kit (about $40 for everything) attach them to the back somwhere so you don't have to splice into the bronco's wiring. Check your towbar out everytime you stop to make sure its not comming loose. Put your t-case in Neautral shouldnt be any problems. Might consider adding some wieght to the bed of the f-250 because it can push you around on a wet corner since a tow-bar doesen't add any wieght to your hitch. I've pulled a f-150 with a 4cyl s-10 and a towbar wow that was an adventure!!! 40mph tops and that was scary! be carefull out there and good luck

Ohh and make sure your bumper isn't rusted out and about to fall off. Somtimes you can bend the towbar arms out or in and hit the frame with your bolts this is alot better if it can be done.

Better solution- forget the towbar, and rent yourself a U-Haul trailer. No drilling inot the bumper, no UNSAFE pulling, and not unneccisary miles on the truck. Towbars went out a long time ago- we don't even stock the things anymore.
