2X4 to 4X4 on 87\' f250

I have a 87' f-250 that I inherited from my parents when they passed away and I was with them when they first bought this truck. I know that the cheapest and most plausable thing to do would be to buy another one in four wheel drive, but I would still know that it's not the same truck. I have read about what needs to be done for a f-150 but I know the f-250 is different. I would really appreciate anyone telling me what exactly I would have to have and do to convert it to 4X4. Thanks, pdman

My advice...get a trail only four wheel drive and use the F-250 to pull it to the trails.

You would really have to find another f-250 the same body style and 4x4 and basicly swap your body and engine over or swap everything off the donor truck.. Eaither way PITA! but it can be done.

Look up some articles on solid axle swaps for the later model, add to that a tranny or modding the current tranny, a t-case, and some adjustments to the driveshaft length... the cost would be arround 2Gs
