manuel hubs for 91 bronco

I am having trouble replacing the manuel hubs on my 91 Bronco. I have put the retaining nuts on the spindle and tourqued them down to spec. but I can't get the retaining clip on because the hub assembly won't go back far enough to get the clip on. I know this is simple but I have followed the Haynes and the Cilton manuels to the letter
but I can't get it to work. Any help would be great.

Reach around behind the whole steering knuckle to where you can see the axle shaft u-joint from the front of the truck and push the u-joint toward you. This compresses the rubber axle seal and will give you another 1/8" of room to get the clip on. Congrats on the manual conversion

Re: manuel hubs for 91 bronco

Ya I put superwinch hubs on my F150, it was manual only but I had to buy new ones. I can remember having a similar problem all I did was push the axle outwards and like aforementioned it gave me about a quarter inch or so and had no problem getting the clip back on. Good luck
