96 F-350 Suspension lift

A guy I work with is intesrested in lifting his 96 F-350 (CC - SRW). I think he wants to go up around 4" or so. Is it just me, or is it hard to find lifts for this year? I'm a GM guy so I'm out of the "know" on the Ford stuff. I didn't really have any luck doing a search here either.

So, anyone know where the best place/price is for one? A link would be great if someone knows. Any other bits of info that are particular to this year that he should know about as far as lifting it etc.? Any info someone could throw out would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

I'm not to familiar with "kits" for F350s but it would go to reason all you really need is lift leafs, longer shocks and maybe longer brake hoses. I've heard nothing but good things about these guys: Dever Spring.

Re: 96 F-350 Suspension lift

Shouldn't be too hard; '92 thru '97 is all gonna be the same (no, F250s and 350s did not go to the new body style in '97 like the F150s did).

I'd seriously consider a shackle reversal, it will improve the ride and give you 2" of lift. Check Off Road Unlimited's site, but I wouldn't pay what they want; it's easily built. Then find a 2" lift spring and you've got 4" total lift.

The shackle reversal will really take the edge off that truck on the highway, altho I suppose the cc wheelbase helps some too

BigNorm, I haven't revisited your thread but now your avatar pains me!

Re: 96 F-350 Suspension lift

Thanks for the input so far guys. I know he had priced a lift a year or 2 ago and they wanted something like 1200 or maybe more, ... I didn't know why they wanted so much for a leaf sprung truck... was not sure if there was something Ford specific that I was not aware of. I thought it sounded like robbery... he thinks they were fluffing the price. So, he's now wanting to do it (but not for that price), and I thought I'd see what I could find out for him.

If anyone else has any info... please post it. Thanks again.
